Energy
Energy is a term that is commonly used but difficult to define.
There are different types of energy like..
-Kinetic energy, which is the energy of motion.
Ex. Someone going for a run.
- Gravitational potential energy, it is the energy an object possesses because of it's position.
Ex. When a roller coaster is going up the hill it gains GPE.
-Mechanical Energy, is the combination of kinetic and potential energy.
-Heat energy, the random moving energy particles. It is also known as Thermal energy.
Ex. Rubbing two sticks together, the friction from rubbing the two sticks will start to produce heat, or thermal energy.
-Sound energy, the energy of vibrating particles. It i transferred by mechanical waves.
Ex. Listening to your ipod with headphones, the headphones may start to vibrate from the sound waves transferring to your ears.
-Elastic potential energy, the energy of deformed materials.
Ex. Slingshots, rubberbands, catapults, bungee cord, bow and arrow.
-Electromagnetic energy, energy of waves. It is sometimes called solar or light energy. It is carried by electromagnetic waves.
